It's actually a very simple build.

Every seam is sealed with acrylic cement and 100% silicon. The top has 2 large doors cut in with rounded corners for additional strength. The housing for lighting and pumps is the width of the tank, supporting the middle brace on the top.

Only took about 3 days to build!

Thanks for the info, it looks very nice :duim

Could you please tell in more detail how the glueing is done exactly? Also what brand of cement, etc. In Europe acrylic aquaria are not mainstream (yet).

After making the cuts on the acrylic sheets, I used a router to smooth off all the edges. The acrylic cement I used is Weld-On 16. This stuff is AMAZING! It binds in a matter of minutes and holds extremely strong. I put a good thick layer of that in each edge till I got my box shape and let that sit for about 20 minutes.
Once that was all glued I lined the seams on the inside with a good quarter inch bead of silicon. Did an overnight water test (I knew it was going to hold) and set it up the next day! Cycled in 3 days, had my Motoro's in it a week later.

The only downside of using acrylic for me at least is I can't seem to get that "beautiful" look glass has. I might be using the wrong type of acrylic sheet though. Other than that it's easy to work with, cheap, and reliable.

It was simple! If you ever need a hospital tank, consider using this build! With the right tools you can have one up and running in a week.
